The Porsche Club GB Sim Racing Championship returns for the new year with a completely different format to what we’ve seen before! Starting from the 18th of January, Season 6 will see the Porsche 911 RSR on the grid instead of the familiar GT3 Cup car. There will be a mix of race formats throughout the season, which include heat racing, and longer 1-hour races with mandatory pitstops. The championship will host eight rounds and will continue to feature Pro and Am categories, which are determined by pre-season qualifying at the Red Bull Ring.
You have to cast back to the 1974 IROC series to see a grid full of RSRs! In more recent years, we doubt there have been more than half a dozen RSRs on track at once, and that is one of the benefits of the virtual world is that things like this can happen, and we think this is a fitting farewell to the Porsche RSR as we know it. We don’t know how the racing will fair with a full grid of RSRs, but we can tell you that it will look spectacular!
